Childrens Butterfly Nature Watch Activity Kit full of exciting butterfly discoveries.  Packed into a butterfly decorated carry bag, the kit contains a build and paint your own butterfly house, a butterfly net, a butterfly identification chart, nectar feeders and a butterfly wall basket with butterfly attracting seeds.  Also included are four paints and a paintbrush to decorate the butterfly house ready for your visitors.

Build and Paint Your Own Butterfly House

After you have assembled and decorated the butterfly house, place in a sunny location out of the wind.   It ought to be mounted on a pole or on a tree about 1.2m off the ground.    You can tempt butterflies to the butterfly house by painting it in bright colours.  Butterflies are attracted to bright colours like red, yellow, orange, pink and purple.   Don’t forget to provide a water source.  You can make butterfly nectar by dissolving one part sugar or honey to nine parts water.  Put this in the nectar feeders provided in the garden close to the butterfly house.

You may like to leave a little fruit out for the butterflies to eat.   They like over ripe strawberries, peaches, nectarines, apples, melons and even mushy ripe bananas (ones which  have been in the freezer and then thawed out).

Butterfly Wall Basket and Seeds

Remember to plant up the butterfly wall basket with the butterfly attracting seeds provided.   If you display this near to the butterfly house, your garden butterflies will have their favourite plants nearby.

Butterfly Picture Chart

The butterfly nature watch kit also contains a butterfly net and a picture chart to identify the species which land in your garden.  Some have amazing names such as the purple hairstreak!
